What is Dragon Well Tea? 

Dragonwell is among China's most popular green teas. This tea originated from Hangzhou in the Zhejiang Province. One of the things that differentiate this tea from other teas is its distinct shape. The leaves are elongated and flattened in the inside veins of the leaves. This shape is achieved through very developed skills in a vessel known as a hot wok. Our high-quality dragon well tea has a sweet and rounded flavor that is reminiscent of white corn that has been freshly roasted. It also has a buttery, nutty and full texture with a pleasantly dry finish.

Process of Dragon Well Tea

We roast the tea leaves very early after picking them so as to prevent the natural oxidation process. The action of the enzymes is stopped during the 'firing' process which is done in heating pans or through steaming before the tea leaves completely dry out. Like most green teas, dragon well tea undergoes minimal oxidation. As a result, it produces a yellow-green color when brewed. 

How to Brew Dragon Well Tea

Brewing dragon well tea is very simple. All you need to do is use hot water for about 70 to 75 degrees Celcius. Water at this temperature will give you the best brewing results. To achieve the real taste profile of this tea, avoid using glassware and porcelain. Instead, use a Yixing clay teapot that is slightly porous. The brewing time will depend on how concentrated you want your tea. We recommend doing it for about 5- 10 minutes for the best results. Covering the pot during the brewing will help speed up the process.
