Tie Guan Yin 

The Tie Guan Yin is considered as one of the premium and a standard variety of the Chinese oolong tea that was firstly discovered in the century 19th. It is named just after the Goddess of Mercy according to Chinese mythology Guanyin. She was the lady embodiment of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. Two of the legends that are behind this tea are Wang and Wei.  

Talking about Wang, he has been a scholar that he somehow discovered a tea plant near the rock of Guanyin in the Xiping. He took that plant to his house to start the cultivation. After the sixth year of his reign, he explored the Qianlong Emperor where he offered his cultivated tea in the form of a present from his native village. The ruler got so impressed with his greetings of tea and decided to name that tea as the Guanyin tea as it was found beneath the rock of Guanyin.

The second legend was the farmer who is poorly named as Wei. At the time of going into the fields, he walked through a rundown temple and seems like temple’s worse condition. He didn’t have any means to repair that temple. Still, he tried to manage some incense along with a broom to clean the surface of the temple. One night, Guanyin came into his dream and said that there is the cave at the back side of the temple where the treasure is awaited. There he found a tea shot. He planted that successfully by which the best tea was produced. He distributed among his neighbors and started its sale under the name of the Tie Guan Yin.
